Every Man's Biggest Fear

Some marriage proposal stories are so amazing that you can literally feel the love a couple has for each other as you read through it. When the man is the one writing the beautiful proposal story, it makes reading it that much better. That being said, here is one of my favorite “How I Asked” stories yet…

As a professional mechanic, I have gotten used to pretty girls batting their eyes at me in hopes of coercing me into performing free car repairs. Heidi was a different story. In fact the first time I met her, she completely shut me down. After being introduced through mutual friends, I mustered up the courage to try and talk to her. She, in turn, did everything she could to let me know how uninterested she was. Ironically, not too long after that, the little orange “Check Engine” light on her dashboard illuminated. For me, it was a little beacon of hope.
I ended up spending 6 hours working on her car one Saturday afternoon. She sat there watching me work the entire time. No one had ever done that before. We made some awkward small talk, enjoyed some music, and often endured in silence. I remember those as 6 of the happiest hours of my life. When she finally left I told myself, “I’m gonna marry that girl.”

My original proposal ideas varied: from an ancient message washing up on the beach in a glass bottle, to a helicopter trip up to a mountain peak. I finally chose something that I better felt fit us as a couple. Something simple.
The proposal took place on the evening of April 29th at the top of Prefumo Canyon Road, a winding stretch in the hills between San Luis Obispo and Avila Beach, California. It was a perfect evening, the wind was calm, and the fog was nestled against the hillside below. The rolling green hills gave way to the broad expanse of the ocean. It was the very same place I had taken her when I first asked her to consider a dating me. I brought her up there under the guise of enjoying a picnic dinner and some quiet time together. Little did she know that there was so much more planned! I brought a picnic basket filled with her favorite snacks (salami and cheese, chocolate covered strawberries, and crackers). After setting up the picnic blanket, we sat down and I encouraged her to explore the contents of the picnic basket. I pulled out a square red Kevin Main Jewelry box I had hidden inside, and gave it to her to open.

At this point she had a very bewildered look on her face. The box was too large to be a ring box, but it was small enough to be intriguing. Inside was a ring sizing tool (a key chain with little plastic rings in each size). I told her that I was going to be starting the process of getting her a ring, and wanted to make sure that I knew the right size. She was still a bit confused, but began to sort through the different sizes to find hers (a 5.5). To her dismay, there was no size 5.5 ring on the key chain! I pretended to be a bit confused before reaching deeper into the basket and pulling out a much smaller red Kevin Main Jewelry box. I got down on one knee, untied the bow on top of the box and said “Why don’t you try this one on?” I then opened the box and showed her the sapphire and diamond ring I had spent months designing. I said,”Heidi Arlene Smith, John 15 verse 13 says ‘Greater love has no one than this: that a man would lay down his life for his friend.’ You’re my best friend. I know I am a pain in the butt sometimes, but if you will let me, I promise to lay down my life for you every day, for the rest of my life. I love you, will you marry me?” Heidi was in shock for a moment, and then with tears sliding down her cheeks, and a look of suprised joy on her face she said, “Is it real?”.
A few soft words, hugs, and kisses later, I looked down at her and asked, “You did say yes, right?”

MY SPOUSE, WE NEED TO GROW UP...✍️

1. We need to grow up and stop this game of tit for tat. It is childish to revenge. 2. We need to grow up and stop this silent treatment that lasts for weeks. Grown ups don't behave like this. 3. We need to grow up and stop talking constanly about our problems and start focusing on solutions. Grown ups act. 4. We need to grow up and stop exposing our children to our drama and issues. We shouldn't act childish in their presence with disunity and attitude, they are under our care. 5. We need to grow up and learn that disagreeing doesn't mean we don't love each other. Grown ups learn to work through the differences. 6. We need to grow up and become accountable and responsible so there is no need to suspect each other. You don't need to police me, I don't need to police you. 7. We need to grow up and stop allowing our parents and friends from coming between us. This is our marriage, not theirs. 8. We need to grow up and stop shouting and provoking each o...

HOW A MAN CAN MAKE HIS WOMAN FEEL SEXY...

1. STARE AT HER WITH DESIRE A woman feels wanted most by how her man looks at her. Men are visually stimulated beings so she will look to see if your eyes tell her 'I want you.' 2. LET HER KNOW WHEN SHE TURNS YOU ON She feels good when she knows she arouses you. If you are near her and with a hard on or thinking about her when you two are apart and find life in your boxer too hard for comfort; let her know. She wants to know she has an effect on you; even after years together she wants to know she's still got it. 3. PRAISE HER BODY Speak it, let her hear you talk so good about her sex appeal. 4. NOTICE HER EFFORTS If she gets a new hair do, a new dress, if she works out; let her know you are paying attention. 5. PROTECT HER FROM HERSELF A woman can sleep feeling sexy then wake up doubting her sexiness. One negative comment from someone can easily make her question her appeal. She might look at herself and not like her body weight, size or shape and she lowers ho...

Everything In My Marriage Changed When I Got Pregnant

I turn twenty-seven this September, and I have been married for almost a year now. Before we got married, my husband was quite the doting partner. He was always in my space and just couldn’t get enough of me. That was one thing I loved about him. It made me feel like he needed me to function properly. That’s the pace our relationship grew at, until we got married. A few days after we got married, I found out that he was cheating on me while we were dating. He had even cheated two weeks before our wedding. I confronted him about it and he admitted it. “Yes, I cheated before we got married and I’m sorry for that. But I want you to know that I respect our marriage vows so I will not repeat that mistake. It ended when we got married, trust me on that.” It was difficult but I forgave him and we moved past it. Apart from that cheating thing, the few months of our marriage were good. We were always hot for each other. I felt that was going to continue for a long time. And then I g...
