A great marriage is not far from you. That's if you know what to do. If you don't, it can become hell. In this Part 5 of the series, I bring you 15 more nuggets of truth to help you in your (future) marriage:
61. You blow up or hot in anger and say things that hurt your spouse. Later, your head cools down but foolish pride will not let you apologize or mend fences with your spouse. Over time, why do you wonder when your spouse’s heart is cold towards you and why joy has become a stranger to your home?
62. People ask “Is there anything like love at first sight?” That is an easy one. The trouble is when that love does not grow to increasingly become commitment if you marry that person out of love at first sight.
63. If you must buy her expensive gifts and struggle to keep her as a girl friend, what will happen if you marry her and can no longer so spend on her because of many financial needs? Shouldn't you rather test that out now?
64. She keeps making financial demands on you but has never asked you serious questions about your business or work. Does she belong to the future you are working to create?
65. You are very well-educated and dream of moving up career-wise. Before you say yes to him, get to convince yourself that he is not the type of man who thinks a woman’s place is in the kitchen and who will never want or allow his wife to go out and work.
66. If you love you can be hurt. If you don’t love you save yourself from disappointment and hurt.
But you also close the door to the pleasure of love. All life is risky. You just have to pursue wisdom..
67. He has promised to marry you and the relationship has lasted for more than a year and he is still foot-dragging to even go see your father talk more of collecting list from the village. If I were you I would give him an ultimatum.
68. When you go to your parents regarding who to marry, you should go in submission to their authority without a made-up mind. Otherwise, you are simply going without honoring them and wanting them to rubber-stamp your decision.
69. He tells you that you must become pregnant before he can marry you as if he is testing to know if you are fertile. What about his own test?
70. You are asking me what is wrong in watching pornographic film together with your spouse in order to spice up your love-making. I won’t argue with you. Just make sure you can perform to the level that the films expose you to and continue to do so.
71. A marriage with a little bandwidth of forgiveness will be seriously challenged to last a lifetime.
72. Forgiveness does not mean tolerance for abuse. You are just letting the other person have another chance. The other person still needs to accept responsibility for both their action and change in behaviour.
73. Some men have interpreted the concept of wife as a helper as meaning they should not find out how to help their wives live a fulfilled life. I pity the woman in such a master-servant relationship.
74. Using holy scriptures to extract certain behaviour from your spouse is a weak form of leadership or influence.
75. No two marriages are alike. For the safety of your marriage, never compare. Build up and support one another in love. If you’re not married you want to see that you start building up and being supportive of each other while dating.
