A great marriage is not far from you. That's if you know what to do. If you don't, it can become hell. In this Part 14 of the series, I bring you 15 more nuggets of truth to help you in your (future) marriage:
196. If you want trust you must do things that build trust. If your phone rings and you can’t allow her to pick it up or your phone is always locked when with her, your relationship has a trust issue. And if you’re the lady, what are you doing moving the relationship into marriage?
197. In absolute terms, regardless of who s/he might be, never marry anyone who in any way communicates the feeling that s/he is doing you a favour marrying you.
198. You dehumanize yourself when you beg someone to love you.
199. No matter what happens, hold up your head high and smile at life, even if s/he broke the relationship months or days before the wedding.
200. Love that you will enjoy must be a mutual thing: you love him and he loves you.
201. Marriage is good but not everything. Stop thinking that by marrying, you will become happy or that your being married will make you complete. Get on with your life and let love come when it will.
202. What affects you affects your wife. So why are you living like your wife should not ask your questions about where you’re leading her and the family? You’re just insecure if you cannot tolerate, talk more of inviting, your wife to ask you questions regarding making decisions - decisions which of course will affect her. You are, in addition, robing the marriage of your wife’s unique feminine viewpoint and wisdom except you think you’re the husband of an coconut-head woman.
203. Don’t marry except you will fight for your marriage to work. Fight FOR your marriage, not fight YOUR spouse. Fight for your marriage until you have no more fight in you or until there’s nothing more to fight.
204. No matter who he/she is, in the strongest of terms, never marry anyone who belittles or makes a mockery of your parents or your family or your tribe or your God.
205. The more you stay in a verbally-abusive relationship, the more you will struggle to have a good self-worth. You must do everything to seek help.
206. No matter what life has thrown at you, you are never less of a human being, even if you’ve had a child out of wedlock or he’s thrown you out of marriage.
207. “I love you” can really mean "I'm lusting for you.” If you’re not wise you won’t know the difference. That’s why I tell ladies to leave sex out of the equation.
208. Don’t think gifts are neutral. Gifts make a room for the giver in the heart of the receiver. Because of your demands, he’s spending much on you even when he has not married you. What makes you think he will not feel you should give your body in return? Can you see how you’re making yourself a commodity for exchange?
209. Even if he has the whole money in the world, you must never feel inferior or that he’s doing you a favour marrying you. Never enter a relationship as a weak partner.
210. I have by experience come to the conclusion that what many things ladies call love is not even foolishness but plain stupidity. When you elevate your feeling above the instructions of God’s Word, you have left God out of the equation of who to marry. Why then do you think you will hear God?
