A great marriage is not far from you. That's if you know what to do. If you don't, it can become hell. In this Part 10 of the series, I bring you 15 more nuggets of truth to help you in your (future) marriage:
136. Your decision on who to marry ranks high as one that will affect your life irreversibly. When a divorce happens, the people involved never get back to where they started. Are you getting wisdom on how to make that decision?
137. In a funny way, the story of Adam joining Eve to eat the forbidden fruit after Eve did can teach you that where your wife misses it or messes up big time, you don't use that as justification to cease from being joined to her. This further confirms God's idea of marriage being for life.
138. What makes you think there is any difference between having sex with your boyfriend and what a prostitute does? Talk of calling pig meat pork in order to allow it to be pleasant to be eaten.
139. The problem in your marriage is HOW you think. You close from work and get angry that she's delaying to serve you food. What stops you from sending for snacks while you wait for the meal to be ready or from joining her to get the food ready?
140. Men don't wash plate. Men don't cook. But women now work. You have not stopped benefiting from her working yet you quote tradition. Continue.
141. When you have to preach to your wife about submission your marriage is already needing help. I know this is one place where preaching does not help.
142. Marriage is what you put in. Don't put in equality or human right or activism if you want a happy home. Don't make it a war on the sexes. Put in love and service and honour.
143. Love is what it is. There is a heart connection or there is not. Don't beg him to love you. Don't try to buy her love.
144. Where women struggle with submitting to their husbands that is really not the issue. Underneath is an issue of doubt and fear - "Will I not get hurt in consequence of his decision?"
145. Many divorces have happened through the influence of friends and family.
146. Love is great to cause you to be crazy enough to get married. But the marriage vows are really about commitment. Could it be there would be better marriages if we emphasized commitment half as much as we do love?
147. The trouble with many relationships is that men and women are still playing the battle of the sexes or trying to outsmart the other or and just not strong enough to be themselves.
148. There would be better marriages if you could just get your focus right - work on yourself to be a gift to your spouse.
149. People don't leave a bad marriage in one day. Minor cracks and holes in the boat of the marriage were not sealed over a period of time.
150. A good marriage is not prophesied into existence. Bend your knees, use her head and work your hands.
If you found the information here useful why not be a good friend and share it/ tag your friends?
